Can you tell me where you live (general location)? That would help in identifying it. Do you have a picture you can send me? Sounds very interesting if it is opal. The colors sound unusual. I doubt it if it is an fossilized egg. These are extemely rare. If it is, it would be very valuable. Do you know the type of geology in your area? Geodes usually form in past volcanic areas, where the silica fill in gas pockets and cavities after the volocanic ash or lava deposit.
