The AOS monthly club meetings are normally held every second Thursday at 7:00
pm. Guests are always welcome.
Meetings are held at the Garden Grove Civic Women's Club, located at 9501 Chapman Ave.,
Garden Grove, CA 92841 (at the North-East corner of Gilbert and Chapman).

Typical meetings start with a social half hour, then a business session, followed by a coffee/social break, and
then our evening's speaker. Some of our recent topics have included:
- Opal Mining in Coober Pedy
- Gem carving
- Gold casting
- Intarsia
Once a year we hold a
Annual Opal and Gem Show where
dealers from around the world sell opal rough, finished stones, jewelry, gems, and
supplies. In addition, a number of symposia are held.
The Society maintains an extensive library of books, some of which are one of a kind,
videotapes of speakers such as opal expert Len Kram, and misc. newsletters
and
journals. These are available for loan to members at each meeting.
