AOS Meetings

The AOS monthly club meetings are normally held every fourth Wednesday at 7:00 pm.  Guests are always welcome.

Meetings are held at the Anaheim Downtown Community Center, located at 250 E. Center St., Anaheim, CA 92805.

For directions, click on this Google Maps link.

Typical meetings start with a social half hour, then a business session, followed by a coffee/social break, and then our evening's speaker.   Some of our recent topics have included:

  • Opal Mining in Coober Pedy
  • Gem carving
  • Gold casting
  • Intarsia

Once a year we hold a Annual Opal and Gem Show where dealers from around the world sell opal rough, finished stones, jewelry, gems, and supplies.  In addition, a number of symposia are held.

The Society maintains an extensive library of books, some of which are one of a kind, videotapes of speakers such as opal expert Len Kram, and  misc. newsletters and journals.  These are available for loan to members at each meeting.
